The dentist will shape and polish the filling to ensure it fits properly and looks natural. This step prevents any rough edges that could irritate the tongue or cheeks.
Immediately following the procedure, patients will be able to drive themselves home. However, some side effects include sensitivity to hot and cold temperatures and slight pressure on the treated tooth. Therefore, in the first 24 hours, avoid chewing on hard or chewy foods as well as flossing. It is also worth noting that the local anesthetist will wear off hours after the procedure is complete, making it unlikely for patients to taste foods or beverages during this time.
